“Finding Energy and Inspiration in the Heart of the Carpathians: My Holiday Recharge”

Returning to Ukraine this winter after five months abroad felt both heartwarming and challenging. Being back home with my family in Kyiv was comforting, but the realities of winter in Ukraine brought their own set of hurdles. With frequent power outages and disruptions in water supply, working consistently became almost impossible.

Motivation dwindled. Energy was at an all-time low. I found myself staring at my computer screen, unable to muster the focus needed to continue my work as an IT sourcer.

That’s when I realized—I needed a reset.

The solution? A week-long trip to the Carpathians.

I arrived in the mountains not knowing what to expect but hoping for clarity and a chance to recharge. To my surprise, the power outages were far less frequent, and I was able to work without interruptions. But more than that, the Carpathians gave me what I truly needed: a change of scenery, fresh air, and time to reflect.

Each day was a mix of work and walking through the serene snow-covered mountains. I breathed deeply, sipped hot tea, and allowed my mind to wander. I rethought my approach to sourcing, strategized ways to adapt to the current challenges, and slowly felt my energy return.

That week taught me an important lesson: when burnout strikes, listen to yourself and do what’s necessary to recover. For me, stepping away was the key to finding my focus again.

And it worked! By the time I returned to Kyiv, I felt renewed and ready to tackle my work with fresh determination. Within days, I successfully connected with a potential candidate for one of our key positions—a reminder of the power of being in the right mindset and full of energy.

To my readers: If you’re feeling overwhelmed or burned out, don’t ignore it. Sometimes, the best thing you can do is step back and give yourself the time to recharge. Whether it’s a getaway to the mountains or simply taking a well-deserved day off, your productivity and well-being depend on how you care for yourself.
